London isn't blessed with new restaurant openings that takes it easy. A trend of thinking in concepts, prototyping with food stalls and attending press release workshops has meant that those simple places, that the budding restaurateurs would probably love to actually open, are hard to come by. But Perilla feels relaxed in its ambition. A neighborhood restaurant that people who don't have great neighborhood restaurants might travel to. It's not too obsessed with what needs and should be on the menu, some stuff feels a peak trend, some stuff timeless, some stuff just bang on. London's favorite dish this summer will without doubt be their strawberry and buttermilk dessert. And £38 for a tasting menu is incredible value.
