The famous Brazilian chef Bel Coelho resides in her cool place in the Vila Madalena neighbourhood, a fuzzy area with nightlife, art gallerys and hipsters. Open just one week per month, so make sure to tailor your trip to Brazil around this. In the last few years Bel has been serving tasting menus exploring the cultural aspects of Brazilian people. Notably the one called “Orixas”, a creative vision of the candomblé afro descendant religious culture, another successful menu was “Portuguese inheritance” which was set as a dialogue between Portuguese recipes and Brazilian ingredients. It’s always a fixed menu of about 10-15 courses and if that is not enough for you, there is drinks pairings to go with each dish too. Bel has also a great display of techniques, and has worked in serious kitchens such as world-famous DOM (with legendary avant-garde chef Alex Atala) and El Celler de Can Roca in Spain.
